The current name of the department received in 2008 after the reorganization that occurred during the division and transformation of the department “Psychological, social and humanities disciplines” and “Theory and methods of physical culture and sports” to strengthen the block of theoretical and psychological and pedagogical disciplines. The head of the department was appointed doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor I.F. Andrushchishin.

The department started its pedagogical and research activities from the moment of the formation of the Kazakh State Institute of Physical Culture. Its history is inextricably linked with the life of the first sports University of our Republic. Over the past period, the names of the department changed, the number of subjects taught increased and decreased, there was a constant rotation and renewal of professorial and teaching staff, but its core remained practically unchanged – the subject “Theory and methods of physical education (now physical culture) and sports”.The central place in the activity of the department is occupied by educational work, where the main focus is the development and improvement of the teaching methods of the main disciplines “Theories and methods of physical culture” and “Theories of sports”.

In connection with the rapid progress of sports and increasing its social role in society was also the development of the Department. The following disciplines were added and became independent: “History of Physical Culture”, “Management of Physical Culture and Sports”, “Sports Facilities”, “Sport metrology”, “Fundamentals of Youth Sports”, “Legal Basics of Sport”, “Olympic Education”, “Basics of mass sports and recreation work”, acquiring in some cases, even the status of the department with the appropriate name. So in the early 70s, the Department of the History of Physical Culture, the Department of Management of Physical Culture, the department of Sport Facilities and Sports Metrology became independent structural subdivisions.The transition of Kazakhstan society to the market economy, and the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the credit technology of education led the Academy of Sport and Tourism to the need to optimize the training of physical culture and sports personnel. In this regard, many departments were reorganized or merged. The department is a general academic and carries out the teaching of 19 disciplines, both basic and elective in all faculties. For the first stage “ Bachelor ”, the following subjects are taught in the state and Russian languages: “Theory and Methods of Physical Culture”, which includes two large courses – “General and age basics of physical education”, “Sports theory”, and also “Basics of children youth sports”, “History of physical culture”, “Sportmetrology”, “Sports facilities and simulators”, “Management of physical culture”, Pedagogy of Physical Culture and Sport ”,“ Psychology of Physical Culture and Sport ”,“ Psychology of Tourist Activity ”, “ Psychology of Social and Cultural Service”.

The master’s courses read “Pedagogy of higher school”, “Psychology of higher school”, “Methods of teaching in higher school”, “Innovative technologies in the field of physical culture”, “Psychological control in physical culture and sports”, “Scientific and practical bases of FC in high school”. In addition, the department develops the methodological foundations of teaching and coaching practice, determines the practical content of these practices and implements control functions for their implementation.The priority activity of the department is research activities, covering the widest range of theoretical, methodological and methodological problems of training athletes and educational plans and programs.In the 60-80 years. the last century, the leading scientists of the department took an active part in the development of theoretical, methodological and psychological-pedagogical foundations for the development and improvement of sports training and the preparation of athletes for competitions (USSR Championships, Games of the Peoples of the USSR, World Championships and Europe, the Summer and Winter Olympics). These developments have found their concrete embodiment in various publications, including textbooks, study guides, recommendations and guidelines, scientific articles and abstracts. In the subsequent period and up to the present, the research of the department is aimed at further improving the theory and methodology of sports training. During the existence of the USSR, such scientific work was carried out as part of a long-term All-Union research program, and the department was responsible for carrying out a specific direction of this program. According to the results of the work done annually the faculty of the department prepared scientific reports.This fully applies to the psychological provision of training in sports. In particular, sports psychologists are directly involved in the psychological support of training athletes in various sports.

During the activity of the department, its teachers prepared and published 14 collections of scientific works. The chief editors of these collections were G. G. Natalov, B.K. Karazhanov, V.I. Knorr, V.F. Sopov, In addition, many teachers were members of the editorial boards of other scientific collections produced under the auspices of the academy (institute). From 2003 to the present, Professor S.I. Khaustov is the deputy editor-in-chief of the scientific-theoretical journal of the Academy “Theory and Methods of Physical Culture.” Professorial and teaching staff of the department published more than 3000 publications, including textbooks, teaching aids, guidelines and instructions in various disciplines and received more than 530 copyright certificates for the development of simulators, training devices, sports equipment and equipment.One of the most important aspects of the department’s activity is the conduct of subject Olympiads on Theory and Methods of Physical Culture and Sports. The beginning was laid back in Soviet times. In accordance with the regulations and schedule of the USSR Ministry of Education, the department conducted All-Union Olympiads for 5 years. In connection with the collapse of the Soviet Union, they no longer conduct. However, since 2008 the Ministry of Education and Science of our Republic has resumed the holding of student Olympiads, as one of the most necessary parts of the educational process. And now, over the past 5 years, the Academy team has become the winner of the Republican Olympiad.

The teachers of the department defended 11 doctoral and 26 master’s theses. After the opening of the postgraduate and dissertation council at the department performed research activities 79 applicants, of which 34 defended themselves, receiving the desired degree.The main protagonist of the department, which determines the effectiveness of its activities, is the head. Over the entire period of the department’s functioning, including after its optimization, when four other departments joined it, scientists became famous in the field of physical culture and sports as its heads. Andrushchishin Joseph Frantsevich
Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Physical Culture and Sports of the Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism. The main direction of research: “Psychological and pedagogical problems of training athletes,” based on the idea of pedagogization of sciences. Under his leadership, 3 PhD and 8 master’s theses have been defended. Currently I.F. Andrushchishin carries out scientific leadership of three PhD students. He published 182 scientific and educational works. Including in 1999 with the participation of K.V. Ilyuschenko wrote the first Kazakhstan textbook on the specialization “Volleyball”. Earlier were developed: methods of measuring the command and mental state, methods of improving interpersonal and functional interaction of highly qualified volleyball players, methods of research operational and tactical thinking athletes. The main scientific work was the development of a complex system of psychological and pedagogical training of athletes, according to which the dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences was defended. He took part in the work of 5 International Scientific Congresses “Olympic Sport and Sport for All” and 2 International Congresses on the Psychology of Sport, as well as in a number of international and national conferences. He developed and introduced into the educational process 18 standard and study programs in the specialty “Physical Culture and Sports”, for bachelor, master and doctoral studies. He is the co-author of 3 State Education Standards of the MES RK in the specialty “Physical Culture and Sports”. For many years, carries out scientific and practical activities as a psychologist and pedagogue, first in the women’s team of masters of the higher League of the USSR in volleyball “ADK” (Alma-ATA), then in the youth national teams of Kazakhstan in basketball, volleyball, football, national teams (men’s and women’s) of Kazakhstan in judo. Conducts individual consultations with individual athletes in various sports. Performing public duties responsible for the scientific and methodological work of the Republican volleyball Federation, for 10 years he was the editor-in-chief and author of the first in the country information and scientific journal-yearbook “Volleyball of Kazakhstan. In cooperation with programmers he developed the first in the Republic original computer program “Rating” for registration of technical and tactical actions of volleyball players, used in tournaments “Cup of the President of Kazakhstan”.In 2002 he was awarded the honorary sign “for merits in development of physical culture and sport”. Alimzhanova Gulzhan Dauletovna
Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology in the late 80s and early 90s, Ph.D., associate professor. Gd Alimzhanova is one of the founders of the concept of valeological education in the field of physical culture and sports in our Republic. The first of the Kazakh teachers developed a theoretical concept for the formation of healthy lifestyle for schoolchildren. She took the most active part in the creation and organization of the first in Kazakhstan faculty of valeology. She has developed more than a dozen of model and curricula in the disciplines of the faculty of valeology and prepared a doctoral dissertation on the pedagogical foundations of valeology. She developed and filled with content new academic disciplines: History of Health Science, Health Pedagogy, Age and Social Pedagogy for Valeological Students, Methods of Teaching Valeology, School Valeology, Psychological and Pedagogical Content and Support of Students Valeological Practice. For several years, she was a member of the State Expert Group of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development of test materials for the discipline “Pedagogy of Physical Culture and Sports in the framework of” Intermediate State Control “. Published 57 scientific papers on the problems of school and university pedagogy.
Amanbaev Rafkhat Raskeldievich
In 1968 he graduated with honors from the Kazakh State Institute of Physical Culture, and from 1969 to the present, he has been a teacher at this institution (now the Academy). Three years after graduating from our institute, he entered the postgraduate course of the Leningrad Scientific Research Institute of Physical Culture and in 1982 successfully defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. After 2 years he was awarded the title of associate Professor and two years later headed the Department of Theory and methodology of physical culture, which is headed until 1996. Under his leadership 3 Ph.D. theses were defended. During his work, he published over 60 scientific and methodological works, including textbooks on the general fundamentals of the theory and methodology of sports and methodological recommendations on the study of the theory of physical culture in the state and Russian languages.
Borodina Evgenia Filippovna
Arriving from besieged Leningrad in 1942, she enters the following year at the physical education department of the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute and then transferred to the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture, which was established on the basis of this department. In 1947, after graduating from KazIPC, he traveled on distribution to the Kyzyl-Orda Pedagogical Institute and was actively engaged in research activities. In 1974, in the dissertation council of the Kiev Institute of Physical Culture, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and from 1978 to 1989 he headed the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology at KazIFC. The main direction of her scientific research is the development of the will of adolescents in physical education classes. During the period of her work she published more than 20 papers.
Zakiryanov Kairat Kairullinovich
In the most difficult restructuring times of our Republic, the end of the so-called dashing 90s, he assumed not only the leadership of the institute, but also the department of pedagogy and psychology, as one of the key structural links of our academy. As part of the process of structural optimization, he was looking for ways to reorganize the department into a general system of academic integrity. Ivanov Gennady Dorofeevich
He graduated from the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture in 1958. Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Pedagogy, Corresponding Member of the Peter Academy of Russia.
In 1972 he defended his thesis, and in 1992 – the first in the USSR doctoral dissertation on the problem of physical education of students. He has published more than 130 scientific papers, including four monographs, a textbook on the physical education of students, 15 teaching aids. Under his leadership, 4 doctoral and 15 master’s theses were defended. Honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan in athletics pupils G.D Ivanova set 21 record of Kazakhstan. Since 1983 he was the head of the department of the Office of Physical Culture.
Karazhanov Bektleu Karazhanovich
A graduate of the State Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture (SOLIPC), doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, honored trainer of the Republic of Kazakhstan.From 1969 to 1972 he studied in the graduate school of the Research Institute of Physiology of Children and Adolescents of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR (Moscow). After graduation, he was sent to work in Kazakhstan. In 1973 he began his scientific and pedagogical activity at the Kazakh Institute of physical culture, first as a teacher, then acting head of the Department of pedagogy and psychology, and since 1984 he was elected its head. From 1986 to 1998 he was the rector of KazIPC. Under his scientific leadership, 7 Ph.D., 3 doctoral and 3 master’s theses have been defended. Kim Mikhail Vasilyevich
Candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor, dean of the pedagogical faculty, one of the first heads of the department of pedagogy and psychology, as an independent structural unit of the institute. In the sixth issue of the journal Theory and Practice of Physical Culture, 1967. M.V. Kim and F.A. Grebaus made the article “Psychology or Psychiatry?”, Which sharply criticized the assertions of psychiatrists who worked with athletes, that during the period of the competition they may experience pathological states. At the same time, they expressed their very topical considerations on the organization of psychological preparation, as well as its content. Time has shown that psychiatrists and representatives of psychology were right. The practice required a specialist psychologist to be able to solve both psychology and psychotherapy, and, more importantly, to be able to deeply understand the intricacies of sports activities.
Natalov Grigory Grigorevich
In 1951 he graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of the State Center for Applied Physics and Sports with a specialization in gymnastics. In 1964 he graduated from the postgraduate study at the State Center of Applied Physics and Physics at the Department of Theory of Physical Education. From 1971 to 1984 – Head. Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education of the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture.In 1977 he defended his thesis, and in 1980 he was awarded the academic title of associate professor. For scientific and pedagogical activity in higher education twice (in 1974 and 1979) he was awarded the Diploma of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education and Social Affairs.The academic title – Professor of the Department “Theories and Methods of Physical Culture” – Kuban State Academy of Physical Culture, he received in 1996. In 1999, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, and four years later, the title of honored worker of Kuban.The main directions of his scientific activities were: the science of physical culture as a system of knowledge; improvement of the educational process in the institutes of physical culture; social development of physical culture; objective basics of planning physical education. In the implementation of these areas were developed by Grigory Grigorievich: subject-content basis, as a starting point and periodization of the history of physical culture, sports and physical education; subject structure and functions of physical culture, sports and physical education, as special areas of formation of the culture of motor activity; the initial contradiction, stage and direction of the development of science of physical culture; the specifics of the object of scientific knowledge (physical exercise) and directions of its practical application; the subject, structure, order of presentation and the main content of the theory of formation of the culture of motor activity as an integral General discipline of curriculum IPC. In essence, this was a transition from a subjective, teleological concept of development and a descriptive presentation of the science of physical culture to an objective, cultural science concept of its research and systematic presentation in the order of the immanent deployment of its subject-substantive foundation. Nurlybekova Alima Baltabaevna
Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, headed the department at the beginning of the 2000s. From the very beginning of her career in our Academy, she has established herself as an organizer of scientific activities in the field of physical culture and sports. Throughout the period of work at the Academy was the scientific Secretary of the Dissertation Council of our Academy, made a contribution to the quality of training of future scientific and pedagogical staff.
Ponomarev Nikolai Ivanovich
The first head of the department “Theory of Physical Education.” He was a graduate of the State, Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture (Moscow). USSR Master of Sports in Athletics. Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor – the author of many fundamental works on the theory and methodology of sports training. Tanikeev Muratkhan Tanikeevich
Head of the Department of national sports and history of physical culture, doctor of pedagogical Sciences, Professor, corresponding member of the world Committee of history of sports and physical education, member of the Board of the all–Union Association “national pedagogy”.Honorary Professor of the Kyrgyz Institute of Physical Culture. The author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 28 books and monographs. Some of his works were published in English, French, German and Mongolian. For many years he represented the national sport science at the largest international symposiums, world scientific congresses “Sport in modern society”. Widely known for his book “Kazhymukan”, ” From Baigi to Olympiad”, “History of physical culture in Kazakhstan” Sociology of physical culture and sports”, etc. Some works of the scientist are devoted to the Mongolian and Kyrgyz folk games and sports. Teleugaliyev Yurist Gabdulovich
Candidate of pedagogical sciences, professor. After graduating from the Kazakh State Institute of Physical Culture in 1963, he received the qualification “coach-teacher in artistic gymnastics”. Since 1968, Y.G. Teleugaliyev, being the scientific employee of scientific research institute of pedagogical sciences it. Uvarov Vitaly Nikolaevich
Graduate KazIPC 1959, master of sports in gymnastics, doctor of law, professor. One of the largest experts in the field of law and management of physical culture and sports. Since 1978, for many years he headed the department of management and the history of physical culture and sports. The author of the first All-Union textbook on the management of physical culture and sports, which is still being studied by students of our academy and a number of other sports universities of the former Soviet Union. In addition, he wrote 3 monographs, 3 textbooks and more than 400 articles on various legal issues in the field of physical culture and sports. For the development of state-legal problems of development of physical culture and sports, he was awarded the gold medal of the USSR State Committee on Physical Culture and Sport.
Hadishin Bek Sembekovich
Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Master of Sports of the USSR in sambo, judo and master of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazakhsha-kures. Khamzin Bahi Makhmetovich
Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology in the 60s, Doctor of Psychology. In our Republic B.M. Khamzin is one of the pioneers in the study of various psychological issues of sports activities. He was actively engaged in studying the psychological readiness of athletes to compete and the characteristics of volitional traits in high jumpers. He deeply considered the issue of the education of psychological stability in extreme conditions. Together with F.A. Grebaus, M.V. Kim, A.S. Romain solved the problem of using mental regulation and auto-training in sports.
Stanislav Ivanovich Khaustov
After graduating from the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture in 1964, and in 1971 postgraduate studies at the Research Institute “Physiology of Children and Adolescents” of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR in Moscow, S.I. Khaustov initially worked as a senior lecturer, and since 1976 he has been an assistant professor in the Theory and Methods of Physical Culture department at KazIPC. Total teaching experience is 51 years, 42 of them-in the Kazakh Academy of sports and tourism. In 1972 he successfully defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of pedagogical Sciences in Moscow. From 1994 to 1997 S.I. Makarenko Boris Grigorievich
Boris Grigorievich Makarenko – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department “Theory and Methods of Physical Education.” An extremely important role was played by one of the first organizers of the formation of the Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture in the difficult post-war years, in rallying the team, in enhancing its creative activity. He was the largest specialist in the theory of physical culture, which has a beneficial effect on the scientific authority and quality of the teaching and methodical work of the department.
